Mark 's Testimony Mark was raised by his single mom, and she kept him in church starting at the age of four. When Mark was five years old he realized he was a sinner in need of a Savior and accepted Christ as the only way to heaven. Not having the fatherly influence that he needed Mark made some wrong decisions in his teenage years. He tried to hide his sins but one night it all came out in the open. That night his mom received a phone call from the county jail and they told her she needs to come pick up her son. Not knowing where to turn, Mark 's mom called his Pastor and his youth director to go with her. These two men sat Mark down and told him they were not going to let him turn out like this and since that day they tried to train Mark the best they could. In 1995, Mark was invited by missionary Chris Gardner to go on a short term mission's trip to Peru just to see what the mission field was like. On this trip God changed his life forever. He saw how selfish he was and that he needed to totally surrender his life to God. During this time God called him to preach and to be a missionary. Mark came back to Dalton , GA and worked in his home church for two years. During this time the Lord kept laying Spanish speaking people on his heart, so in 1997, he went back to Peru with the intentions of learning Spanish. While in Peru the second time, Mark was able to get a grasp on the language, get two years worth of Bible college credits, and help start a church in the city of Arequipa. After a year in Peru , he came back to the states to finish his Bible education at Crown College . During that time God confirmed in his heart that he needed to go back to Peru and work as a full time missionary. After marrying his pastor's daughter, Amy , on June 24, 2000 , they started deputation together. Mark and Amy were missionaries to Peru with Macedonia World Baptist Missions for five years. In August of 2005 they came back to the states to help start Vision Baptist Church and the Our Geneariation Training Center and to represent the Peru Baptist College. Mark is now the Director of Vision Baptist Missions where he promotes world missions, raises funds for national missionaries that have graduated from our training schools, and operates the business of the home office. Amy 's Testimony Amy is the daughter of Pastor Wayne Cofield in Dalton, GA. Being born and raised in a pastor's home her entire life she knew what is was to be saved at an early age. But even as a small child she had pride in her life and was too embarrassed to accept Jesus as her Savior. She finally put her pride aside and accepted Christ when she was eight years old. Amy surrendered her life completely to God when she was in Peru on a youth's mission trip at the age of 15. She decided then that she would do anything and go anywhere God wanted her. Little did she know that God intended for her to marry Mark, and on June 24, 2000 she did exactly that. Now she and Mark and their two children are serving together to get the gospel around the world. |
