Graduate Highlight- Wilbur Hallasi

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Wilbur and Suhjey Hallasi started a church in Moquegua, Peru in 2007. In two years they have grown from five to fifty people. They presently have three home Bible studies out of their church and are hoping to have up to eight by the end of the year. They plan to start bus routes to each of these homes.

Please be praying for the Hallasi family. Suhjey just recently had a baby and is in critical condition in the hospital. I will send out more updates concerning her condition this week. If you would like to help with the hospital expenses you can go to this site and give via paypay.

Grace Baptist Church in Hartselle, AL

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

This morning I had a good time preaching at Grace Baptist Church for the Sunday School and main service hours. I also had a great time meeting Pastor Nathan Green and the other sweet people of Grace. It was great hearing how the Lord worked to rebuild their church auditorium after someone set a fire after a burglary.

I have attached a few pictures of the church’s buildings.

Hartselle, AL Tomorrow

About Arequipa, Peru South America

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Arequipa is the home of the Peru Baptist College. It is a city of around 900,000 people in the actual city and 1.5 million people in the Region of Arequipa, which makes it the 2nd most populous city in Peru.

Arequipa is in the northern part of the Atacama Desert, which is the driest desert in the world. Parts of this desert are 50 times drier than California’s Death Valley so you can imagine how dry it can be. Although the climate is dry the temperatures stay between 50 to 75 degress Fahrenheit- aka perfect temperatures.

I will later explain our strategy to reach the city of Arequipa with the gospel and how we are using it as an example to reach other cities around the world.

Graduate Highlights- Ronald Tubillas

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

I will be posting now again a few highlights of what some of our graduates are doing since they graduated from the Peru Baptist College.  It is amazing to see how the Lord has worked in their lives.

Today I want to talk about Ronald Tubillas.   He and he is family are working here in the US starting Spanish Ministries.  So far they have started one in my home church, Vision Baptist Church in Alpharetta, Ga and Trinity Hills Baptist Church in Norcross, GA.

Ronald pastored for seven years in Peru and did a terrific job.  The last semester that he pastored and taught in our Bible college he had over twenty students from his own church enrolled in the Bible College.  Now those guys and girls and scattered throughout Peru working in the ministry.

Our goal at the Peru Baptist College is to send more guys out just like him.

Great Last Day with the Group

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

I had a terrific time this past week with the group from Victory Baptist Church in Loganville, GA and the few of us from Vision Baptist Church in Alpharetta.

Our trip ended yesterday when we all arrived safely in Atlanta around 11am.  I want to thank the Lord for bringing us all back safely.  I do hope we find the lost baggage though.

Here is a rundown on our trip back home.

We left Arequipa on Tuesday evening around 6pm and landed in Lima around 7:30pm .

We left Lima around 12:30am.

We landed in Miami at 7am and took off for Atlanta at 9am.

When we landed in Atlanta and my traveling wasn’t over.  I then drove home, took a shower, and then started on the road again.
Ronald Tubillas and myself traveled to Lake Toxaway, NC to preach at Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor John Ashe.  We had a great time getting to know him and his people.
We then drove back home last night and arrived around 11:30pm.  I got caught up on my Bible reading and got to sleep around 2am this morning.
I have a great life.  I encourage you to give your life to the Lord.  There is no telling what you will be able to experience.   Life is so boring if you don’t.

Big Tract Day and Prayer Request

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

Today our group had a great time passing out around 14,000 gospel tracts in two major trafficked areas around Arequipa.  Pray the Lord uses them to touch people’s hearts to come to Him.

Please be praying for Missionaries Jeremy and Bekah Hall.  Bekah is expecting twins and found out today she has preclampsia.  The Doctor said she will probably have to deliver via c-section within 5 days.  That would be around 7 weeks early.  These twins are their first children so you can imagine how nervous they must be.

Medical Clinic Day

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

This morning our group had the opportunity to work the whole day helping with the GoForth Group with the medical clinic they are running at the Peru Baptist College this week.

The clinic started this past Monday and they have seen over 1000 people by the end of today.  There has also been over 500 professions of faith.

I am glad our group had the opportunity to help today.  I believe there was around 219 profession of faiths today.

We ended the day having a church service at Smyrna Baptist Church.  Pastor Derik and Pastor Chad preached tonight and Josh Blake, Rebekah Sewell, and Jesse Turpin gave their testimony.  They all did a terrific job.  I was especially impressed by Bro. Chad seeing it was the first time he ever preached with a translator.

We arrived in Arequipa

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

I am now sitting at my cousin Jeremy Hall’s house in Arequipa, Peru with Jeremy and Bekah, my wife, Pastor Derik Lawrence, Pastor Chad Gordon, and Lori Wimberly.

We had a great time today visiting Missionaries Joe and Lisa Kotvas and the Efata Deaf ministry.  Bro. Derik and Bro. Chad preached great messages during their school chapel.  Karen Lucas, Dallas Brown, and Annie Blake gave a word of testimony. I especially loved how Bro. Derik used Rhyne Armstrong as an illustration as a big tree during his sermon on Zaccheus.
